You want something that seals well, no air leaks. With the engine warm, edelbrock recommends setting the idle to the highest vacuum and then leaning the mixture screws maybe a 1/16 of a turn.

I just put a carburetor kit in my edelbrock 600 cfm 4 barrel caburetor (1406). That's extremely lean in the cruise mode and can cause hesitation or a stumble as it transitions to power mode. It's usually easier to just rotate the cam all the way and then let the screw come down on.
